The cordless telephones with an answer machine are also very small and compact and so there is no need for a large, separate answering machine. The answering machine is usually located in the base unit and you can usually play messages back straight from the base unit. Also look out for the amount of messages that the answer machine can record as this does vary, it is usually limited in minutes and not the actual amount of messages though.
